Gianfranco Zola is the latest name to come out and suggest that Chelsea would be making a mistake if they allowed Conor Gallagher to pack his bags this summer and leave the club.

Gallagher was one of the players that former boss Mauricio Pochettino relied on the most over the course of his stay at Stamford Bridge – and the midfielder rarely let the side down with his hard-working performances.

But there has been alot of transfer speculation in the media that he is one player that the club are very much open to letting leave the club at the end of the season – with the likes of Tottenham and West Ham reportedly interested in a deal.

Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes 1-2-Free, Gianfranco Zola said: “Conor Gallagher was very important because he gave the team the type of quality that was needed.

“We know CHELSEA has a lot of young players with a lot of talent but along with that you have roles; you need to have a great personality and hunger, and, in this sense, Conor has given them a lot.

“He has been essential because again, flair can make you win a game, but the play he has shown makes you win trophies. He has been very important for Chelsea, and I really hope he can be as important for England.

“I hope he doesn’t leave Chelsea…
