Chelsea target Jack Grealish has not seen sufficient ambition from Aston Villa to keep him at the club, according to former captain Stiliyan Petrov.

Grealish has been in the headlines for all the right reasons this season, despite the relegation battle that Villa have been in, and that has led to much speculation in the media that Manchester United, us and Liverpool are really keen to try and nail down his services in the transfer window.

And ahead of the summer transfer window, Petrov suggests Villa have not matched Grealish’s needs and ambitions, and And in turn that leads to the inevitable suspicion he will call time on his Villa career.

Speaking to Stats Perform News , Petrov said: “As a Villa fan I’d love him to stay. Jack likes to compete, he wants to do that at the highest level. He loves the club. He showed that in the Championship, he helped us get promotion, he battled hard in the Premier League.

“If that moment comes [when Grealish leaves], it would be sad to see because he is an exceptional person, not just player. But as a club, have we done enough to keep him?

“I don’t think so and it’s a big problem going forward as a club, because we may get good players through the youth system, but can we do enough to keep them?

“If he goes, I don’t think he can be blamed.”

“Jack has a growth mindset,” Petrov said. “He likes to improve, he wants to achieve.

“He likes to be in the spotlight, wants to be counted. He wants to compete at the highest level.

“Of course, he will generate interest from the top clubs because he does perform. If you remember, Pep Guardiola said he’s one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

“That compliment comes from one of the best managers in the world. Those managers don’t waste their words saying this about someone who doesn’t deserve it.

“That’s why Pep came out and said he’s one of the best and his performances this season have attracted attention. It’s completely normal.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Lebeouf thinks Kalidou Koulibaly would be more suited to the Blues than Manchester United.

Regarded as one of the finest defenders in the game right now, and tipped to leave Napoli when the transfer window opens up at the end of the month, there has been alot of speculation in the media linking us and United with a move.

Both teams have great attacks that will cause damage next season, but defensively they have been worrying this season and they will both need to improve if they want to challenge for that Premier League title.

But with both clubs interested, Leboeuf has claimed that we would be more suited to Koulibaly than a move to United, he was quoted on the Daily Express website: “I will never ask him to go to Manchester United for many reasons.

“I want him to win some stuff and I think Manchester United is not the club that they used to be and they’re not ready to win stuff.

“I think Liverpool would be a good fit with [Virgil] van Dijk, that would be fantastic.

Paris Saint-Germain as well with Marquinhos, there would be two great central defenders.

“I think Chelsea will need a player like that. I don’t know if Koulibaly will be interested, but even if they have two very good central defenders, Koulibaly I think belongs to another level and would fit very well.

“I know he has a link with Liverpool, Van Dijk and Koulibaly at the back – my God, that’s going to be another Red season I guess.

“Definitely with Van Dijk, and when you’re a defender like Koulibaly, that would be the best central defence in the world.”

Ian Wright has backed Chelsea new-boy Hakim Ziyech to thrive at Stamford Bridge after his arrival from Ajax.

Alot has been said about the performances of the lads since the re-start of football and many have been getting very excited about the attack that Frank Lampard has managed to put together.

But that will be improved next season after we managed to secure a deal for Ziyech, who has been brilliant for Ajax over the past few seasons and is easily regarded as one of the finest wingers in the game right now.

But the Arsenal legend told Premier League Productions: “The thing with Ziyech is that he’s one of those creative players and when you watch Chelsea, especially at home, I think they were expecting a bit more for their creative players.

And then because of what Eden Hazard did for them, they had one particular player who in that role could make something happen.

“I think it’s a brilliant signing. If he can hit anywhere near the form [he’s shown for Ajax] it’s a fantastic signing.”

Diego Simeone is not surprised by rumoured interest in Jan Oblak with Chelsea reportedly interested in a potential deal.

Now look, we all know that Frank Lampard is not happy with the performances of Kepa, who has not developed during his time at the Bridge and that has led to some big speculation in the media which has suggested that we are looking to sign up Oblak in the transfer window.

Simeone has become accustomed to rumours over the future of key players in his squad, however, he is hoping that Oblak does not decide to leave the club and will stay at Madrid this summer.

“It does not surprise me, every year our most important players are wanted by the best in the world,” the Atletico boss told the media ahead of Thursday’s game with Getafe.

“It is normal to always look for the best – and we have many. Some have left and others have stayed.

“It is logical and normal that anyone wants Oblak. He is our captain and an important player. I hope we can count on his work, which is enormous for Atleti.”

When asked again about Oblak’s future at Atletico during the media call, Simeone replied: “I repeat the same thing: it is normal that they want a goalkeeper of his characteristics and value.

“It does not surprise me. He is decisive and important in the dressing room year after year. He has evolved in every way, as a goalkeeper and within the group.”

Oblak is a world class stopper that could add a few more points to us next season, we are hoping a deal can get done.
