Havertz on why he joined Chelsea, Kai reveals he wants to emulate Lampard, Ziyech like Hazard and Fabregas in Icchelseanews roundup..

German international Kai Havertz has declared his aim to become Chelsea’s new Frank Lampard

Havertz made a name for himself over in the Bundesliga as one of the most exciting, talented and goal-scoring midfielders in the game right now, and that prompted the club to splash £72 million to secure a transfer deal.

But Havertz has made a slow start to life following his £72million move from Bayer Leverkusen, as the midfielder has just one goal from seven Premier League appearances, plus a Carabao Cup hat-trick against Barnsley.

The 21-year-old tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month, but will be back after the International break, and he has now come out and told fans that he is aiming to become the next Lampard at the club

He told SportBild magazine: “I now feel better once more. You can’t underestimate what coronavirus is like. It’s important for everyone to understand that it is no laughing matter. We need to take care of one another.

“I have always remembered how dangerous Frank Lampard used to be in front of goal.

“I thought he had an outstanding record for a midfielder – and I want to use him as a benchmark.

“I’m also impressed by the fact that he has been such a likeable guy despite all his successes.

“I joined Chelsea because it was important for me to be at a club with a vision.

“There’s an exciting revolution going on at the club. We are a young team, with lots of great players.”

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin believes Hakim Ziyech reminds him of both Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas.

The £33million summer signing was one of the early signings for the club in the transfer window after making a name for himself in Dutch football with Ajax, and over the past few weeks, he has started to make a real impact in the starting line-up and has become a real source of goals for Frank Lampard’s men, who are starting to show their class in recent games.

Ziyech was outstanding in the 4-1 win over Sheffield United at the weekend, as he He made two assists and showed brilliant quality with his range of passing, and now Nevin has opened up and claimed that he looks a little bit like Fabregas and Hazard

And Nevin told talkSPORT: “It was a magnificent performance showing little glimpses that reminded you of the best of Eden Hazard at one moment and then Cesc Fabregas’s genius two minutes later.

“I can already see something special with Reece and Hakim. You might stop one, but that will create space for the other. Timo Werner has obviously figured out that he is a good guy to know.

“Every time Hakim gets the ball, Timo is off haring into space knowing that Hakim can find him nine times out of ten. If that ball is coming in from the right wing, Timo will be on that back post.”

Kai Havertz has revealed why he rejected other lucrative moves to sign for Chelsea during the transfer window.

After netting an impressive 34 goals in two seasons for Leverkusen, it was no secret that Havertz was linked to some of the biggest clubs in world football over the transfer window, and he just had to make the right decision.

In the end he opted to make the move to the Bridge and the Premier League, where he would get the chance to work under the guidance of Lampard, who played the game much like the talented German does today.

And the German has opened up and revealed just why he rejected teams such as Bayern Munich in order to sign on the dotted line for the club in the transfer window, He told Sport Bild: “It was important to me to have a club with a vision.

“An exciting change is taking place. We are a young team with many great players. We think offensively.

“We want to build something up here and attack. That motivates me a lot. And then it is a title with Chelsea is worth a lot more.”
