Barcelona legend Xavi has hailed Maurizio Sarri for building a “spectacular” team at Chelsea since his arrival from Napoli in the summer.

Since his arrival at the club in the summer, Sarri has already transformed a side that struggled to keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool last season and put us firmly in the chase for a Premier League title, with a big opportunity to also win the Europa League.

And although many in the media had their doubts that Sarri would change much at Stamford Bridge, Sarri has brought exciting and entertaining football back to the club, but also the ability to grind out results when we are not playing at our best, much like the result at the weekend against Manchester United.

Now Xavi the latest to praise the Italian, stating that he loves the way Sarri likes to play the game.

Xavi has been left very impressed from what he has seen from Sarri’s side, telling Italian publication Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia): “I’ve studied Sarri’s football and I like it a lot, both when he was at Napoli and now at Chelsea. He always wants to have the ball and dominate the game. He didn’t win with Napoli, but maybe he can do it in London. He deserves it for his work, because he gets his teams playing with fluidity.

“He has great ideas and he knows how to put them into practice. Take the signing of Jorginho: he could have put a phenomenon like [N’Golo] Kanté in front of the defence, but he wanted to develop a certain style of football in terms of circulating possession.

“So he managed to find space for the Frenchman and Jorginho, and now his Chelsea are spectacular.”

Will Sarri’s style bring success to the club? Here is what we think

It will take time for Sarri to get it perfect and it will also take some funds to bring in a few more quality players, but if the Italian can keep his star men, then yes there will be a lot of silverware heading to the club in the coming seasons.
