Chelsea sent big transfer message ‘over brilliant signing’ Ziyech

Gunners legend Ian Wright has praised Chelsea’s ‘brilliant’ transfer deal for Hakim Ziyech.

We may have not done the January business that many fans would have liked to see happen, but the Blues moved swiftly after the transfer window and secure a transfer deal for the very impressive Ziyech, after it was confirmed on Thursday that we had agreed a £36.6million deal to sign the Morocco international.

The 26-year-old starred in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last season and also helped the Dutch side to their first League in a good few seasons, with an impressive return of 16-goals and 13 assists in 29 League games for the Dutch giants.

Now Arsenal legend Wright says he will be a ‘fantastic’ addition for the club, telling the Premier League Productions: ‘The thing with Ziyech is that he’s one of those creative players and when you watch Chelsea, especially at home, I think they were expecting a bit more for their creative players,’

‘And then because of what Eden Hazard did for them, they had one particular player who in that role could make something happen.

‘I think it’s a brilliant signing. If he can hit anywhere near the form [he’s shown for Ajax] it’s a fantastic signing.’

Ziyech should be one of a number of signings that we will surely make during the summer transfer window and if his arrival shows the type of quality that the club will be looking to sign, it could be a real statement summer for Lampards side.

He is a great, great signing by the club and hopefully he will be the first of many in during the transfer window.
