Maurizio Sarri has admitted that Willian will not be leaving Chelsea this January transfer window, amid Barcelona links.
Willian has become an integral part of Sarri’s side this season after rejecting a move to Barcelona in the summer, as he was persuaded by the Italian to stay put and try to help the club get back into the Champions League places.
However, there has been speculation in the media over the past few days which have claimed Barcelona have made a £55 million offer to take Willian away from Stamford Bridge, and would even let Brazilian Malcom leave as part of the deal.
But Sarri has reacted very quickly and announced that it would be ‘impossible’ for him to let Willian leave the club this month, telling Sky Sports news: “I didn’t receive anything yesterday. I have no idea.
“You have to contact the club and ask about the market, because if you ask me about the market, you put me in trouble because I don’t know how to answer. As you know, Willian for us is very important.
“I think he can do better, he can do better because of his potential but he is really very important to us, so I think it is impossible to lose him in January.
Could we actually lose Willian to Barcelona?
Willian is world class and losing him would be a massive blow, but the fact of the matter is if Barcelona do come calling and offer a contract offer that is hard to turn down, then yes we could lose Willian in the coming windows.
