Kante to stay at Chelsea, Willian and Pedro locked in talks, Werner message sent in icchelseanews roundup..

Gus Poyet has hailed Chelsea for completing the signing of Timo Werner, saying the club have bagged themselves one of the best strikers in Europe.

Werner will be our second new addition, with Hakim Ziyech already signed up for the new campaign after agreeing a deal with Ajax for the Moroccan winger back in February.

Speaking exclusively to TalkSPort, Poyet said: “It’s always very difficult to get one of the top strikers in Europe, especially if you’re the club buying, because there’s too many people who are trying to look for the same type of players.

“I’m pleased that he’s coming to Chelsea. I’m pleased that he will give options to Frank Lampard, especially in front of goal which is the most important and normally the most expensive one.

“He’s very good at running into space and quick. I’m not saying really fast, but he’s quick, pacy and he can go in [behind] one vs one.

“He’s intelligent. I think he enjoys it more when he plays as the main striker. But also, he’s been playing at lot coming in off the left when you play three up front. I think there are good options for Chelsea next season.

“This is the dream for the coach. Before you even start training for next season, you’ve got players through the door already. This is acting quickly and not letting anyone get involved and deciding which players are your first choice because that’s something that is very difficult in England.

“When you talk about big teams in England, like the top four and top five, most of the time when they’re looking for a specific player, that player can be the same one. Then he becomes very expensive or you start looking for other options because you don’t think you’re going to get him.

“In this case, there was no time for anyone as ‘Bang’ Chelsea. [They made the] first decision and see you later. That’s something that is very welcome from the point of view of the staff and everyone around Chelsea.”

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard insists he has no plans to sell N’Golo Kante this summer transfer window.

Kante is easily regarded as the best holding midfielder in the game right now and is a main reason why we were so defensively sound before Maurizio Sarri came in and decided to play the Frenchman in a more forward thinking attack.

But there was some speculation during the summer transfer window which suggested that French giants PSG were keen to try and take Kante back to his homeland, especially after he reportedly became unsettled under life with Sarri, but that does not seem to be the case under Frank Lampard.

He has been played in his more usual role just in front of the back-line this season and is starting to look like the world class midfielder that he developed into when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Despite all the transfer speculation surrounding his future at the club,  Lampard quickly poured cold water on those rumours at his press conference on Friday.

“N’Golo is one of the best midfield players in the world,” Lampard said.

“He has everything I really want to work with.

“This season has been tough for him because of injuries. It’s nice to see him fresh.

“N’Golo is so important to us as a team. We need him regularly and hopefully we’ll have that now.”

Chelsea wingers Pedro and Willian remain locked in negotiations over short-term extensions to their expiring contracts, Frank Lampard has announced.

We have been in the headlines for all the right reasons over the past few weeks as there has been so much excitement surrounding the club ahead of next season, as Frank Lampard seeks to build a title winning side.

However, there has been so talk that Lampard is hoping to get both Pedro and Willian signed up to short-term extensions in order to help us finish the season, and maybe convince the pair to sign up until next season.

We face a June 23 deadline to finalise short-term deals for their long-serving wingers, with Lampard still hopeful of a positive resolution.

“As a club, obviously, if we are trying to extend players for that period we want them to stay,” said Lampard on the TalkSport website

“As is well documented we have a couple of players in that situation and we have until next week to find a solution, hopefully.

“It would be great for us, obviously, to finish this campaign with the players we started it with and with the quality players we are talking about.”

Both players may be coming towards the back end of their careers, but they both still have someting to offer the club so we are hoping that they do sign these short deals and help us finish the season on a high.

But we would understand if they did not and decided to leave on June 23rd
