£60 million Willian opens up and has message over Chelsea contract talks
Chelsea star Willian has played down speculation that he could leave the club by admitting ‘he is fine’ at Stamford Bridge.
Willian was heavily linked with a summer move to Barcelona after a frustrating year under Antonio Conte last season, in which he lost his place in the starting line-up and found himself on the bench more often than not.
Willian’s contract expires in June 2020 and despite all the speculation surrounding his future at the club, the midfielder has announced that he is relaxed about his future and is not worried about signing a new deal.
He said on the Sky Sports website: “I’m fine. No rush about that. We can talk about that in the future, no problem.”
[the_ad id=”164″]Does Willian deserve a new contract at the club?
Willian has been brilliant for us since his move to the club back in 2014, and keeping hold of him in the summer transfer window was a master-stroke by boss Maurizio Sarri, who also managed to keep hold of N’kolo Kante and Eden Hazard.
But there has been some links with Barcelona over the past few months, and with the Brazilian getting on in age, we could be waiting to see if the Spaniards renew their interest next summer before talks over a new deal is opened up.
We may hand Willian a new deal, but after acquiring the services of Christian Pulisic, there may be too many midfielders in the squad and he could be one player that Sarri decided to sell if the right amount of money is offered.
