Chelsea striker Timo Werner has labelled Kai Havertz as one of the ‘most talented players in the world’.
Havertz arrived at Stamford Bridge in the transfer window amidst some big-time hype, but the lad has not impressed many with his performances to date and he has recently been slammed by ex-Blues star Frank Leboeuf.
But Werner has opened up and labelled the German star as one of the most talented in world football, he was quoted on the SUN: “I know Kai very well and I think he is one of the most talented players in the whole world.
“He is a young boy, only 21 and he can learn a lot but can already play like a very, very old and wise player.
“I think up until now he feels very well here. A bit like me, we have talked a lot about settling in and he feels he is very happy to be here.
“In a lot of games he has shown what he can do, what he can bring to the team. For Kai it is very important to score, but I think what you can see in his game he is a lot more than scoring goals as a midfield player.
“He plays a lot of key passes, makes a lot of movement for other players. He is very talented and feels good.
“He will get better and better, like me he has come to a new country, language and style of football and has to learn. But until now he plays very good and we will see a lot more good games from him.”
Timo Werner says Chelsea can win the Champions League this season because of Europe’s fixture pile-up.
Covid-19 is forcing the biggest teams to squeeze in matches — but we have a large squad thanks to a £220million spending spree that Frank Lampard was allowed to spend in the transfer window.
And as striker Werner prepared to face Rennes on Wednesday, he has opened up and suggested that we can win the Premier League title this season, he was quoted on the Chelsea website: “Every team playing in Europe plays every three days.
“It’s difficult. But we have a big squad of good players.
“I think with this, we have to have the goal to go very far in this competition.”
[the_ad id=”164”]German Werner was one of six major new signings for Chelsea and has five goals already.
He added: “We’re not here to say, ‘We will get in the next round and we’ll see’ — we are here to win the Champions League in the next few years.
“And this year is a good chance because everybody in the competition has a lot of games.
“Every team has to think about how they can manage it, who they can play and how many games they can play consecutively.
“I came here to win titles. We are in a good way and we have a good chance to come very far in this competition.”
Bayern Munich must assume that David Alaba will leave says sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.</strong>
Alaba has been in the headlines alot over the past few weeks after news broke that he would not be signing a new contract at the club, which alerted the club to a possible free deal at the end of the season
It was also revealed this week that Bayern had withdrawn their latest contract offer and Alaba insisted he had not been given enough time to make a decision and had only found out about the offer being withdrawn via the media.
Speaking prior to the 6-2 win over Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday, Salihamidzic appeared to confirm that Alaba will soon be leaving the club: “I can tell you what happened. We negotiated and made David an offer. He refused it. Ten days ago we sat down again and submitted another offer – with a deadline,” Salihamidzic told Sky.
“We informed David and his agent that we would withdraw the offer when the deadline expired. We did that. I spoke to his agent again on Saturday and tried to talk to David again on Sunday because I wanted to know what was going on, but not much happened.
“I don’t know anymore how we will find a way back together. We made an offer and it was rejected. Now we have to assume that David will leave us.
“At some point we wanted to have planning security and know how things would go from here. Then we all made that decision as a club. With Jerome Boateng, Lucas Hernandez, Niklas Sule, Benjamin Pavard – we are well-stocked in this position.”
How could we not make a move right?
