Werner a statement signing, Mbappe and Neymar message sent, Chelsea need Koulibaly, signings to follow Ziyech and Werner in…

Chelsea’s expected £50m capture of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner demonstrates Frank Lampard’s side really mean business next season, according to the Sunday Supplement panel.

Lampard has already signed Hakim Ziyech and there are big reports in the media that a deal for Timo Werner has been agreed by the club, with the German all set to sign up to a massive five-year deal at the Bridge

And Matt Law – the Daily Telegraph’s Football News Correspondent- has opened up and claimed that the signing of Werner is a real statement of intent from the boss.

“Chelsea have agreed with Werner this week to move to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, there is an agreement between club and player,” – he told the Sunday Supplement.

“He has a release clause in the region of £53m, which will get activated, and everybody expects that to go through.

“A lot of people have been taken by surprise that Chelsea have moved so quickly on such a big deal right in the middle of the coronavirus crisis before the season has restarted, to commit to spend £53m and reported wages of around £200,000 per week for a player like Werner.

“Clearly it shows their intent, it is a real statement from them that they are ready to go again, that they are willing to spend and it puts pressure on others as we are hearing that Tottenham and Arsenal are having to look at loans and free transfers this next market.

“Liverpool were certainly interested in Werner, but decided that during this coronavirus crisis they did not want to commit to that sort of money. So Chelsea have put their marker down for everyone else with that deal.”

Ander Herrera says Paris Saint-Germain will keep hold of both Chelsea targets Kylian Mbappe and Neymar this summer.

Mbappe is regarded by many as the man to become the best player on the planet in the next couple of seasons, and has been eyed up with a stunning move to some of the biggest clubs over the past 12 months.

Neymar on the other-hand has been one of the best players on the planet for a while now and has been heavily linked with big transfer moves to us and Barcelona over the coming transfer window, although the coronavirus may stop a record-breaking deal from happening.

However, former Manchester United midfielder says the pair are very happy in Paris and sees no reason why they would be allowed to leave in the near future.

“I don’t know what they earn or what the club brings in – it is a company after all – but I know both are key to the project and from what I can see they are happy and really involved at PSG,” he told Spanish daily AS.

“It’s true that there’s lots of news about them in the media and on social media, but we don’t hype it up much.

“You need to think about a really key thing, and I’ve talked about this with Kylian. PSG isn’t a club that sells its stars, quite the opposite, it buys them. The club is strong enough economically to keep both of them. They’re the best in the world and I’ve got four more years on my contract and I want to enjoy them with those two alongside me at PSG.”

Napoli are insisting on receiving their £100million asking price in full if they are to sell Kalidou Koulibaly to the likes of Chelsea this summer.

We have been in the transfer headlines alot of the past few months as all indications suggest that boss Frank Lampard is keen to delve into that transfer kitty in the summer and improve his back-line.

And one name that is high up on the shopping list  is that of Kouliably, who is easily regarded as one of the finest central defenders in Seria A, and around Europe.

However, he will not come cheap this summer window and wewould have to break the transfer record for a defender and pay around £100 million to secure the transfer deal for Koulibaly.

Napoli’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said: “Kalidou is a great player, who still has a long contract with us.

“If we were to sell, the club could ask for a large sum.

“A player like this cannot change his value even in a crisis, so we are not moving our valuation.”

Chelsea will continue to spend big in the upcoming summer transfer window – That’s the opinion of Alan Shearer

Frank Lampard is not messing around with his summer transfer business and is looking to make sure that he gets his  deals done early, so he is able to integrate the new players into his system for the start of next season.

He has already signed Hakim Ziyech and there are big reports in the media that a deal for Timo Werner has been agreed by the club, with the German all set to sign up to a massive five-year deal at the club

And Writing in his column for The Sun, Shearer explained why the Stamford Bridge giants are in a good position to make big-name signings over the course of the transfer window.

Shearer wrote: “Signing Timo Werner is a huge statement from Chelsea — but it would be a kick in the teeth not to make the top four now.

“Along with Hakim Ziyech, they have got two big-hitters through the door before the transfer window has opened.

“I am certain there will be more to come, too, with Ben Chilwell also on their radar.

“But these players will all be expecting to play in the Champions League next season, so it’s imperative they get the job done.

“With a three-point cushion in fourth it would be a real anti-climax if they didn’t, considering the talent on the way in.

“If Manchester City are banned from European football next season, then fifth place might do it.

“Whether they do make it or not, Frank Lampard’s squad is looking in great shape.

“And in Werner, they’ve got someone who a lot of other top teams in Europe wanted.

“At 24, he’s the perfect age, his international career is taking off, and he will without a doubt add something special.”

Lest hope so Alan.
