Nagelsmann opens up and has this Champions league message for Chelsea bound Werner!
RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann has said Chelsea bound Timo Werner is still in their Champions League plans as things stand.
Werner has been a man in the headlines on a daily basis after news broke that he has agreed to sign with Chelsea in the summer transfer window, despite the fact that Liverpool seemed to be his preferred destination.
The deal has not been announced or made official just yet, but there has been a number of managers and ex-players coming out to congratulate Chelsea for signing a man that has netted an impressive 29 goals this season.
According to a report from Bild, Werner told Leipzig he wants to join Chelsea in July, following the conclusion of the Bundesliga season, which would prevent him from playing for them in the rearranged Champions League, which is being planned for August.
It is believed that the little German would prefer to make the move to England earlier than August so he could get settled into his new environment, new team and new surroundings ahead of the start of next season.
However, Nagelsmann has opened up and tried to shut those rumours down by announcing that nothing has been agreed on his potential exit this summer, and that he will still be in the Champions League squad for August.
He told BILD: “He is currently, as usual, in my plans to play the Champions League. He is our player and has not signed for anyone else.
“His importance to RB Leipzig is extraordinary. He has an incredibly good goalscoring rate, which you always hope for from a striker.”
