Bayer Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller insists there have been no developments in negotiations with Chelsea over the signing of Kai Havertz.
We have been heavily linked with a move to bring Kai Havertz to the Premier League for months now, but a deal has not been announced or confirmed just yet, despite the many reports that it has.
It is believed that an agreement with the player is in place, but the hierarchy are trying to negotiate that £90 million fee down a bit, with suggestions that we are only willing to pay close to £70 million.
But despite all the rumours and all the speculation suggesting that we are closing in on the signing of Havertz, Voller insists there have been no developments in negotiations with the club over the signing of the German star.
“There is nothing new in this regard, and we are still very relaxed about it,” Voller told German outlet Sport Buzzer.
“Of course we would be very happy if he stayed for another year.
“It is clear that the departure of such a player, despite the high transfer fee, always means a loss – see Leipzig and [Timo] Werner.”
Until the deal is officially done, fans will continue to be frustrated about the arrival time of Havertz, and although this is a big update, it is something that only suggests that the deal is not close.
He deserves to be at the club and it would be a shame if we were unable to get this transfer wrapped up.
