Fikayo Tomori admitted he nearly quit Chelsea in his early days at Cobham – when he thought he wouldn’t make it as a youngster.
The young defender has been impressive since being given a chance this season under Lampard, and He looked generally assured at the back, despite the clubs inability to keep clean-sheets on a regular basis.
With pace, power and a remarkable reading of the game for a 21-year-old, there have been many out there that firmly believe that Tomori will develop into a class act for us in the coming seasons.
But on his first time at Cobham, when he played with fellow Premier League players Tammy Abraham and Dominic Solanke, Tomori felt he wasn’t up to the required standard and told his father he wanted to quit.
‘Once I’ve left the centre of excellence, I’m going to Cobham and obviously this is proper Cobham, I’d see Tammy [Abraham] there, Dom Solanke,’ Tomori told Chelsea TV.
‘I noticed that I couldn’t just pick the ball up and run through everyone. So after that I got back in the car and I told my parents: “I’m not coming back here anymore.”
‘It was obviously a level up and my dad said: “No, you’re going to come back.”
‘It wasn’t the fact that he was saying: “You must be a footballer, you must play football,” it was kind of like, you are at a level where you need to challenge yourself.
‘There is no point playing with people that you find it too easy, if you come here and challenge yourself you are going to get better and I am glad he had that take on it.’
Chelsea have closed in on a transfer deal for Nicolas Tagliafico, and have been told the price to pay to get a deal done.
We have been in the transfer headlines alot over the past few months as indications suggest that boss Frank Lampard is keen to spend some serious money and improve areas of the back-line ahead of next season.
we were keen on trying to sign Tagliafico last summer, but could not get a deal done as Ajax did not want to lose too many of their star names after a tremendous season back in the big time
However, with an agreement in place, wehave found out the asking price for the left-back in the video below…

[the_ad id=”164″]julien Nagelsmann is in no doubt that Timo Werner is ‘pondering’ a move away from RB Leipzig, with Chelsea interested.
We have written alot about Timo Werner over the past few weeks as he has been linked to every top club in the Premier League after another stunning season with RB Leipzig this year.
Werner has been in sensational form this season, netting 24 goals in 28 Bundesliga matches, and has been tipped to go on to develop into one of the best, if not the best, forward in the game.
We are ready to sit down open talk, and pay that massive £68 million clause in his contract to secure a transfer deal, especially as they do need to add another striker to that attack in the coming months.
Now, amid the speculation Nagelsmann has opened up and admitted that Werner is pondering a summer move away from RB when the summer transfer window officially opens up, and the seasons are over with.
“He is in a good mood, feels good and trains well,” Nagelsmann told Sport Bild
“I do not have the impression that he is carrying a large cross with him. But he is a young guy who is sure to sit at home with his wife and ponder whether he will stay or change.
“When the question is in the room, you are always a little bit somewhere else. It was no different for me than when in Hoffenheim, it was about whether I go away.
“It is more obvious with strikers, because then there are phases in which they do not score.”
It seems that Chelsea have been given the all clear to make a summer move and sign barcelona wonderkid Xavier Mbuyamba in the transfer window.
We have been linked with some big names over the past few weeks, and fans are hoping for some big time players to arrive, but we will also be keeping an eye out for some of the best talents in the game.
Mbuyamba moved to the Nou Camp last summer from MVV Maastricht in his homeland but has not got the kind of game time that he had been hoping for, with his representative confirming he is already looking to continue his development.
He spent time here on trial last summer, but we were unable to sign him, but recent reports has claimed that Lampard may reignite his interest in the talented young man this summer.
No we have been boosted ahead of the summer transfer window, as the video below reveals.
