Frank Lampard has admitted that Olivier Giroud has given him a problem after helping Chelsea reach the last 16 of the Champions League.
We all know that Lampard spent some serious money in the transfer window adding to his attack and brought in Timo Werner to add a bit more fire-power, with his eight goals a decent return from the German.
Tammy Abraham is seen as the perfect partner for Werner this season and that has meant that Giroud has had to settle for sitting on the bench, which he is not happy with as he wants game time to be included in the French Team for the Euros at the end of the season.
But Giroud’s stoppage time winner against Rennes in the Champions League put us into the knock-out stages and left Frank Lampard admitting: He’s given me a problem.
The 34-year-old could seek a move from Stamford Bridge unless his opportunities improve and boss Lampard said: “I have a problem.
“I have Tammy who is playing well, and we know what he did last year. Oli, who always contributes in that way with that professionalism.
“That problem’s always been there, it’s not a fresh problem and when I say that it’s probably the wrong word because it’s selection issues for me and I need that.”
Giroud staying was a massive shock to see happen in the summer, but he always proven that he is a very valuable member of the squad and a player that will always help the club in some way or another.
But he does need game time, and if he cannot get that here then Lampard will not have a problem for too long will he?
