CHELSEA defender Renato Veiga has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund, according to the latest reports in the media over the past few days.

Veiga joined the club in a £12 million deal from Swiss side Basel last summer but he has been unable to secure a regular role in the team under Enzo Maresca,  the 21-year-old has played just 177 minutes in the Premier League and the majority of his playing time has been in the Conference League.

Viega played a full game at left-back in the clubs 5-0 win over Morecambe in the FA Cup third round on Saturday but the Portugal international may now be on the move after reports emerged suggesting that he wanted out of the Blues.

According to Sky Germany, Veiga has reached an agreement with Dortmund but the Bundesliga club remain in negotiations with Chelsea over a deal this month.

The report adds that Dortmund are looking to secure a loan with an option to buy.

Veiga has been decent for the the club this season and many fans believed that he had the potential to take his game to that next level and become a top top player for us, so the news that he could be leaving will be a massive shock for many fans to take.

However – he wants to play on a regular basis and not just in cup competitions, so it is easy to see why he would want to leave the club this January in search for game time, and to be honest, Dortmund is a great move for the lad.
