Dimitar Berbatov has been giving his opinion on the future of Chelsea target Declan Rice, and it may not be good news for West Ham fans

A host of Premier League clubs look set to try and prise the midfielder away from West Ham in the summer as they look to strengthen in midfield, although they would have to pay close to £100 million to secure any transfer deal.

His performances for the Hammers has made him one of the best in Europe and he is one main reason why the London club are doing so well in the Premier League this season under David Moyes

And amid all the speculation, Former United striker Berbatov believes Rice needs to pick a club where he will be a regular starter: ‘Players want to win trophies, and with Declan Rice you can see his ambitions are big,’ he told Betfair

‘Although West Ham are a big club, are they capable of fulfilling his dreams?

‘He’s been there for five years and when you know you’re a good enough player and teams come after you, at one point you have to make a big decision. Unless West Ham are challenging for the Premier League title I can’t see him staying.

‘He’s already been linked with a number of clubs and there’s going to be big money involved. He will know in his mind where he wants to go, he’s an ambitious guy and he wants to win titles.

‘If Liverpool, City, Chelsea and United go in for him then I think in the current situation he’s more likely to choose City or Liverpool, because it’s been eight years since United last won the title and they are a long way off the others.

‘But, he will have a choice to make and if he goes he has to go to a club where he is going to play.’
