Dembele warned, Tuchel makes Rudiger admission and Digne keen on Blues move in IcChelseanews roundup…

Chelsea’s reported target Lucas Digne is said to prefer a move to London over Newcastle, after the Magpies submitted a bid for the Everton defender.

The long-term injury to Ben Chilwell has reportedly persuaded the club to head into the transfer market for a replacement and Digne has been heavily linked in the media.

Digne has not featured for Everton over the festive period after an apparent fall out with manager Rafa Benitez over tactics, and looks set to depart Goodison Park during this transfer window.

It has been claimed on many occasions that we are interested in doing a loan deal with Everton for Digne with the option to make the move a more permanent one at the end of the season.

Now, amid all the speculation that Newcastle are also interested in a transfer deal for Digne, Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, who covers the North-East of England, has said Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have made the first move out of Premier League clubs for his signature, but Digne would much prefer a move to sign with us.

‘Newcastle have made a £22.5m bid for Lucas Digne, with Sean Longstaff offered to Everton as part of the deal,’ Downie tweeted.

‘However left-back Digne has indicated he would prefer a move elsewhere, with London duo Chelsea and West Ham interested.’

If Digne joined Newcastle, he would get far more game time than he would at the club, but he would be joining a project. He clearly wants to make the step up in the game and play for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

And to be quite honest, we play the kind of football that would appeal to Digne, and suit his style of play. There are many weeks left in the transfer window, so lest see what happens

Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Chelsea have opened talks with Antonio Rudiger about a potential new contract at the club.

Rudiger has been a standout performer for the club this season and one of the clubs most important players, but he could leave the club at the end of the season as his contract expires.

It is no secret that his preference would be to stay, but there has been a number of top clubs show an interest in getting a possible deal done at the end of the season, which has left many fans shocked at the fact he could leave.

However, Tuchel was asked about the speculation surrounding the German, with reports suggesting club’s have opened talks with his representatives over signing a pre-contract agreement now the transfer window has opened

Tuchel was firm in his stance – he wants Rudiger to stay at the club– and confirmed that the Blues are in discussions with the German over a new deal, but as of yet there is nothing official to report on that front.

‘I cannot predict the future and I don’t know if his representatives are talking to other clubs or not,’ Thomas answered on Rudiger questions.

‘Of course, it is possible they are right now [talking to other clubs] as it is January and he hasn’t signed a new contract with us yet but we are in communication with him, the club is in dialogue with his people.

‘Toni is very aware of what I demand from him and how much I appreciate him. The level on which he is playing is outstanding.

‘The point on Toni from my side is very clear, my opinion is clear and the club is trying their very best with him.’

Rudiger is one of the very best defenders in the game and the board would be massive fools to let him leave, we have said that before and will again

Barcelona boss Xavi has warned Ousmane Dembele that he needs to continue putting in effort amid reported transfer interest from the likes of Chelsea.

Dembele has greatly frustrated since arriving at the Camp Nou. Due to a combination of both poor form and persistent injuries, he has made just 126 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 30 goals

However, there has been some shock speculation in the media that we may be open to the idea of bringing him to the Premier League in order to add a bit more of a goal-threat to that Attack.

Dembele enjoyed his best form at Dortmund under current   boss Thomas Tuchel, so it would not be a surprise to see the two reunited at Stamford Bridge, especially as Chelsea know they may be able to get the Frenchman for a bargain.

And amid the speculation, Xavi – who took the reins at the club from Ronald Koeman earlier this season – has had his say on the current situation by hinting that Dembele needs to do his talking on the pitch amid transfer links with both Arsenal and Chelsea.

Speaking ahead of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey showdown with Linares Deportivo on Wednesday night, the former midfielder said: “I have already said it to him, I am waiting for him to make an effort

“The situation cannot be better for him. Let’s see what he decides.

“I’m hoping that he puts in effort before deciding. I am calm and waiting on an update.

“It does not depend on me. It depends on the club and him. He should think about himself and his future.”

Look, there is no doubt that Dembele has massive amounts of potential, but the player is just too injury prone. If we just want to add to their squad, then he could be a decent signing.

But he is no longer a regular starter and not any better than what we already have
