Thomas Tuchel ‘has decided’ he wants £29m Spaniard at Chelsea

chelsea, premier league

It has been claimed that Thomas Tuchel would now like to keep Saul Niguez at the club beyond the summer, but only if government sanctions issued by Prime Minister Boris Johnson will allow it.

As we all know, The club are stuck in limbo after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government following the invasion of Ukraine from Russia, as it has been claimed the he has close links to Vladimir Putin and has had his assets frozen – including Chelsea.

It means that they cannot take or spend money, including in the transfer window, unless there is a change of ownership, but it is no secret Chelsea are negotiating with the government to secure a specific license that will allow them to continue as a normal club amid the ongoing situation.

And now it has been claimed on the DAILY MIRROR that we are now open to the idea of keeping Niguez at the club for another three or four seasons

The Spaniard was a shock loan buy from the club last summer and much was expected of him, but initially he failed to make much of an impact and struggled to even get in Thomas Tuchels squad

However, he has had more involvement in recent weeks and Tuchel has seen the advantages of having the 27-year-old in the squad and wants to trigger a clause that will make his loan permanent.

Doing so would cost £29.3million and under the current sanctions at Stamford Bridge that would be impossible, but as we said, the club are seeking a special licence to try and get this deal done

The terms of the loan will expire on May 30, meaning Chelsea are up against the clock before they can try and get him signed on a more permanent basis

The club havent done anything wrong, Abramovic has, so if the government keep on punishing the club, it could have serious consequences

But Niguez has not done anything special and Chelsea would only keep him if they are unable to sign any new players, if he went, he would not be missed, if he stays, it wont make much of a difference
