Thomas Tuchel insists Chelsea will consider signing new players during the January transfer window
The start of the New Year in football signifies the opening of the transfer window and after the past month of struggle for the club, it might be a bit busier than anticipated for Tuchel
The German boss said himself at the start of the month that he was not planning a busy transfer window, but confirmation that Ben Chilwell needs surgery, and will be out until the new year means that he needs to add to that back-line.
There has been a number of players linked with a transfer move to the Bridge, and the latest name to to linked is that of Dest.
The right-sided defender, that can operate on the left, has become a reported target of the Blues as the board know Barcelona need funds in order to buy the quality of player Xavi needs to get the club back to the top of the game
Now, amid all the speculation about the type of players that could be heading to the club this transfer window, Tuchel has opened up and admitted that the board will consider signing new players this transfer window
Asked to give an update on Chelsea’s January transfer plans, Tuchel said on Friday: ‘We are discussing and we are in talks with the staff and the board and the scouts, checking the possibility [of new signings] which is what we would always do.
‘We are looking into the market, into the possibility. We’re not under the very highest pressure and things have to make sense, personality wise, position wise and the quality has to be there. But we will check out options.’
Look, Dest is a quality player that will improve that squad, so fans will be waiting to see if an official move is made to get a deal done.
