Thiago Silva’s imminent transfer to Chelsea has been backed by a former Paris Saint-Germain defender Sylvain Distin, with a deal close to completion

Reports broke just a few days ago which revealed that we were interested in trying to sign the Brazilian defender this summer as Frank Lampard seeks to bolster that back-line ahead of the new season.

But he 35-year-old PSG captain has already held talks with the club over a summer switch to Stamford Bridge, and will make the move to London now that the Champions League is over with, according to the Sky Sports website.

And ahead of his move to London, Premier League veteran Distin has opened up and backed the defender to be a huge success in the Premier League, he told TalkSport: “He is an experienced player that is for sure,”

“But he’s played in the French league and the Premier League is a different beast, and it’s very difficult to predict how the player will adapt.

“So, in terms of experience and charisma he will be a good signing for Chelsea, if they end up signing him. But how is he going to do? That is too much of a gamble to predict.

“I also heard in the news that Everton are after him and that could be a good signing as well, but we will have to wait a couple of months to see how he adapts to the Premier League.

“And it’s the lifestyle as well, not just the football; it is a very different life in England.”

Liverpool legend Steve McManaman believes Thiago Silva would be a welcomed addition to the Chelsea side.

Having conceded 54 Premier League goals last season, the worst record in the top half and 21 more than champions Liverpool, it was clear that Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard was not going to end his transfer business with Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

And that has led to many reports in the media that the club legend will be seeking to bolster a back-line that needs to be improved before the Premier League starts backs up in just a few weeks time.

Despite sealing a fourth-placed finish and qualification for next season’s Champions League, Chelsea struggled defensively throughout Lampard’s debut campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge, and Silva is the man that could help solve their issues.

SIlva won seven Ligue 1 titles during his time in France, but leaves the club having failed to achieve the European success desired most in Paris, and reports on the Sky Sports website have suggested that he has agreed a one-year deal to make the move to London.

And ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge, McManaman believes Thiago Silva would be a welcomed addition to the Chelsea side, Speaking about the Brazilian, McManaman told BT Sport: “Football is all about the now.

“You can’t plan about five, six or seven years because the manager might not even be there then.

“For the here and now he is an excellent defender.”

There is every chance that Ben Chilwell will leave Leicester for Chelsea in the current transfer window, says Micky Adams.

We have been linked with a mega money offer to try and sign Chilwell for weeks now, but no deal has been able to get done as Leicester are demanding far too much money for the player.

But Adams believes Leicester will reluctantly bow to pressure when it comes to another prized asset, with the Foxes having previously offloaded the likes of N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez and Harry Maguire to domestic rivals.

“It’ll be down to Chilwell. The power is always with players,” former Leicester boss Adams told the Daily Star. “If he gets his head turned by Chelsea, then money talks.

“Leicester are no different to anyone else. If they feel the cash is too good to turn down, then he’ll go.”

He added: “It’ll be a rebuilding process, but all top clubs have the same issue while trying to win silverware at the same time. Rodgers is the man to take them forward and he’ll want to introduce new players.

“Some of the older players are probably coming to the end of the road – and all teams have to look at bringing in bigger and better options.

“[Jamie] Vardy has still got that pace and terrifies defenders. Who is to say he can’t go on for another two years?

“The thing is, long term, it’ll be something that they do need to address.

“What’s helped Vardy massively is the realisation that England duty wasn’t doing him any favours. Travelling around the world was always going to be detrimental to his career now. He took a pragmatic view and realised he needed to make that tough call to prolong his career.

“I think he’s a freak in many respects. He doesn’t put any weight on and it’s been well documented about how he’s refuelled in the past with energy drinks.”

Chelsea goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon has revealed interest in Reims shot-stopper Edouard Mendy. and he is monitoring the progress of

We are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer as Frank Lampard prepares to axe Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of the new season after the Spaniard failed to impress the club legend with his performances last season.

And that has led to alot of speculation that the likes of , Emiliano Martinez and even Marc-Andre Ter Stegen have all been linked with a move to the club.

Now, Lollichon has revealed the club are interested in the lad, and he is monitoring the progress of the stopper, He told Le Parisien: “He has reached maturity, with a fairly unusual path, and it is all the more meritorious.

“Edouard Mendy is today, for me, the best goalkeeper in the Championship of France.

“He is what I call proactive, very influential goalkeeper… Reims really did a great job with him.

“Maybe at [Marseille] they could not detect the talent he had in him, but it was perhaps not the right time too.

“In any case, he’s a great goalkeeper that we follow in the Premier League.”

the man man must be impressing over in the French Leagues but we need to add a world class stopper to the side that most of us have heard of, not another talent that could be a top-class goalkeeper.

He is not the answer to our problems at the back i am afraid, not quite yet.
