Brazilian confirms he WILL BE at Chelsea by the close of summer!
CHELSEA defender Thiago Silva has dismissed the chances of a Stamford Bridge exit this summer.
Everybody doubted that Thiago SIlva would be able to compete at the level he has over the past 15 years because of his age – and many believed he could not handle the Premier League.
However – that has not been the case and he has been one of the best central defenders in the Premier League – and a real leader for the club ever since he arrived at the club.
But there has been alot of speculation in the media that Thiago Silva could be one of the big names that leaves the club in order to help balance that massive wage books.
However – he has now opened up and admitted that he has no plans to leave the club this summer – “We cannot guarantee anything,” The Brazilian told Globo Esporte.
“I don’t like to keep creating expectations, although the desire to end here for the gratitude I have for Fluminense, for having opened the doors for me, still exists, but I still have a year of contract with Chelsea.
“That’s the most important thing right now. I will fulfil the contract. The future belongs to God. We will see.”
SIlva recently hinted that he may sign a new contract at the club after he was voted the mens player of the season – He told the club’s website: “The whole family have fallen in love with Chelsea. My sons, Isago and Iago, both play for Chelsea.
“Isago has extended his contract here for the next two seasons, which means we are going to be here for two years. We just hope it’s more!”
He said after the award: ‘It was a very emotional moment for me, especially because in spite of the bad season we have had, fans still wanted to show me their support,” The Brazilian told the club’s website.
“It’s been a hard year, so the recognition fills me with happiness, pride and pleasure for being part of this team.
“From my first day here, I have been warmly welcomed by Chelsea fans and so my commitment is even greater than before because I know we need to respond to them with better performances on the pitch and give them the response they deserve.
