Chelsea and United agree deal, Tomori joins AC Milan, Rodgers ready for Blues move and Chelsea being too nice to Havertz in Chelsea roundup…

Manchester United Women have signed defender Maria Thorisdottir from Chelsea on a two-and-a-half year contract.

During her time at the club , Thorisdottir made 49 appearances, with 31 of them being starts. The defender, who can also play in midfield, scored two goals over the years, one of which was a crucial strike in a 2-1 London derby against Arsenal last season.

The Norway international, who joined in September 2017, made 26 appearances in her first term with the Blues and played an important role in the 2017/18 Double-winning campaign.

She has now signed a deal to join Casey Stoney’s side until the end of the 2022-23 season, with the option to extend for a further year: “I’m proud to be joining Manchester United; growing up the club was always big in Norway, so for me to now be a part of the women’s side is really exciting,” Thorisdottir told the club’s official website.

“I’ve been impressed with the way the team have developed in a short space of time and have heard so many good things about Casey too, so I can’t wait to start working with her and the rest of the staff.

“I’m also really looking forward to getting to know my new team-mates, this group is young and ambitious and to be part of that is great; the future is really bright for this team.”

AC Milan have announced their delight that Fikayo Tomori has agreed a move to the Italian club.

Tomori is a talent that was expected to be a massive part of the plans this season, but the fact he has fallen down the pecking order at the club and not really been given a chance, he sought a move away from the club

And that alerted Italian giants AC Milan, who have been massive fans of the young man for a while now and have decided to make a loan move till the end of the season, with an option to make the transfer permanent for £27million.

The Italians posted on their website: “AC Milan is delighted to announce the signing of Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Tomori on loan from Chelsea FC until the end of the season. The defender has signed a contract until June 30, 2021, but AC Milan have an option to make the deal permanent.”

We have said it before and we will say it again, it is a massive shame that Tomori is not able to make an impact on this side, but at the end of the day, this is a massive opportunity for the lad to go to Italy and win Seria A, Milan are favourites to end the dominance by Juventus.

Adrian Durham believes Brendan Rodgers could leave Leicester in the middle of their title charge if Chelsea come calling.

Despite having one of the very best squads in the Premier League, Frank Lampard has come under intense pressure over the past few weeks and he is in real danger of getting the sack if results do not pick up over the next few weeks.

And that has led to reports in the media that Rodgers is a man that Roman Abramovic would like to add to the set-up, especially since the former Celtic manager has turned the foxes into one of the best sides in the Premier League.

But While Leicester and the club are heading in markedly different directions, Durham suggests Rodgers could jump ship for Stamford Bridge if offered the job this season: “I’m looking at Brendan Rodgers, and with him being a coach there before, he looks like a perfect fit,” Durham said on Drive.

“That’s not me trying to get Frank Lampard out of a job, but Brendan Rodgers is a perfect fit for Chelsea.

“When you consider he left Celtic when they were on the brink of a treble-treble, he won’t mind at all.

“If someone says to him, ‘This is the salary we’ll offer you, this is the transfer budget, this is the ambition we’ve got’.

“That’s where Brendan Rodgers wants to be, in among the elite. Will he achieve that at a sustainable level at Leicester? Possibly, but it’s less likely.”

Former Chelsea defender Robert Huth has accused the Blues dressing room of being ‘too nice’ to Kai Havertz.

The 21-year-old, who signed for Frank Lampard’s side for £70 million in the summer, has scored just one Premier League goal in 20 games so far this season, despite the fact that he is one of the most gifted young players in the game right now.

Many have wondered why he has not been as impressive this season as he was last season in the Bundesliga, but Huth, who played for the clubs title-winning sides in 2005 and 2006, believes the German’s teammates need to start getting tougher with him.

He told Stadium Astro: “I just don’t like his body language at all, he looks a bit lightweight. It’s his first year, but he looks like he’s not bothered at times. He loses the ball, gives it away and doesn’t work back.

“It is a difficult time to come in with no fans, but you just want to shake him. We used to have Mahrez in our changing room [at Leicester] who got a lot better, but the team took care of him by saying ‘you can’t just do one side of it or 10 minutes of the game’.

“Maybe Chelsea lack that internal leader or leaders where that conversation happens. It’s not always a nice conversation to have when you’re not performing well, but it needs to happen.

“He needs someone to tell him what it takes to play in the Premier League. Maybe the whole changing room is a little bit too nice.””

Havertz just needs time right?
