Statement made after Chelsea deal – Star sent shock message after Blues move – Defender excited after summer switch
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed from icchelseanews…
Jadon Sancho has stunningly been told that he has made a massive mistake in joining CHELSEA after sealing a deadline day move to the London giants on loan for the season.
Sancho is one of the players that has been talked about all summer long after his falling out with Erik Ten Hag towards the back end of last summer and the Red Devils have been trying to get rid of the player for a while now.
He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, has been tipped for a move Arsenal and Juventus, but nobody wanted to pay his high asking price and he has had to wait until the deadline day to complete his move away from the club.
He has now joined the club from Man United and the deal includes an obligation to buy the winger, but he has been told that a move to the Blues is one that he will regret: ‘It’s a surprising move for me when I look at the players already at Chelsea in that wide area,’ Dawson said on Sky Sports.
‘Jadon Sancho is a good player, let’s not forget that. He was a superstar at Borussia Dortmund, he went to United and it didn’t work out for him.
‘But to go to CHELSEA, why will it be any different there? Where’s he going to play? I honestly thought he needed to go somewhere where he was going to play.
‘I think he’s the kind of player that wants to be playing week in, week out. He’s going to be in and out like you won’t believe at Chelsea.
‘Chelsea is an absolutely crazy place right now. You’re bringing in Sancho for [Raheem] Sterling. It blows my mind. It hasn’t worked for him at United, it did at Dortmund. That seemed like home to him and he was playing his best football there.
‘The clubs he played for are unbelievable but he needs to play.’
BILLY GEE LEAVES –
Billy Gee has completed a permanent transfer to Norwich City, and the young defender has admitted that he is looking forward to the new chapter in his life after making the move away from the Blues.
CHELSEA posted on the club website: ‘Billy joined Chelsea as an Under-8 and progressed through our Academy at Cobham. Last season, he featured regularly for our Under-21s and took the captain’s armband after Alfie Gilchrist moved up to the senior squad.
‘Billy was also named on the men’s first team bench for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool in February 2024.
‘We wish Billy the very best as he begins a new chapter in his career. ’
Norwich posted: ‘Gee has represented England’s youth sides at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 level and has been with Chelsea since the age of eight.
‘He wore the captain’s armband for the five-time Premier League Champions’ Under-21s side throughout last season, and claimed a place on the bench for the first team’s Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool in February earlier this year.
Upon signing for the Canaries, Gee spoke to the club’s official channels: “I’m very happy, it’s the start of a new chapter. I’m ready for the new challenge.
“I was captain last season for the (Chelsea) Under-21s so I think I can bring leadership skills and I think I can bring a lot of on-the-ball ability.
“I hope I can break through and try to push for the first team.”
DEFENDER LEAVES –
Chelsea Academy defender Saheed Olagunju has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a permanent transfer – the Blues confirmed late on deadline day after working until the very last minute to get some deals done.
The Blues posted: ‘Saheed joined CHELSEA as an Under-12 from Charlton Athletic and made the step up to our Under-18s side last term after becoming a full-time scholar.
‘He made 13 appearances for the Under-18s and also helped the Under-17s win the Premier League Cup.
We wish Saheed the very best as he embarks on the next step in his career.’
Head of international youth recruitment, Harry Hooman, said: “Saheed’s someone we’ve admired from afar and for a long time while he’s been at Chelsea. If ever there was an opportunity to do something then we were going to look to move and that opportunity came available, so we moved quickly and we’re excited to get him in the building.
“He’s a very tall and athletic left-sided defender, but he’s also comfortable with the ball. Defensively, he likes to be on the front foot and playing high up the pitch – he’s comfortable defending on that high line and has that athleticism to defend the space in behind. He’s still very much growing into his frame and developing physically, which is exciting because he’s nowhere near finished in terms of what he could become. There’s lots of potential there and a high ceiling in terms of his long-term potential.
“We were really impressed with his attitude and intelligence, and it seems like he’s come from a really good family with good people around him. This will hopefully help him settle in and then kick on over the next couple of years.”
