Sporting Director opens the door for Chelsea to sign striker
Brentford sporting director Phil Giles has not ruled out the club selling CHELSEA transfer target Ivan Toney.
Toney has been a man in the headlines for the past few months as it is heavily believed that all the big clubs will make a move for him in the January window, when he officially returns from that football ban.
Now, amid all the speculation and rumours – Giles has opened up and admitted that they could sell their star man – He said: “I’ve never had one phone call in three-and-a-half years about Ivan Toney, in terms of interest in buying him. My job is really easy because I get on with the day-to-day.
“I have a lot to do and spend less time worrying about Ivan’s situation than others. With Thomas [Frank], it’s [the case of] getting him ready, getting him fit, getting him some practice games in and then the expectation is he’ll come back in the team. If my phone rings between now and then, I’ll see what’s happening. But I’m really not focused on that at all.”
Reporter Iomie Stanley recently urged the club to take a chance on the 27-year-old proven goalscorer and matchwinner.
He said: ‘He is the perfect kind of striker for CHELSEA right now
‘He is a man that has dominated at the level that he has been for the past few seasons, and making that jump up to a team like Chelsea is a massive step up.
‘No doubt that the quality is there, But Chelsea might need to take that chance and splash the cash on a man that is tipped to move to one of the big clubs.
