Spaniard tells £72 million man to seek Chelsea transfer deal in January transfer window

Spanish journalist Miguel Venegas believes Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga needs to seek a move away in the January window

The club spent just £27 million on signing Edouard Mendy, and despite all the critics that the stopper may have had before he made the move to the Bridge, he has kept four clean sheets between the sticks already for Lampard.

That has mean that Kepa is no longer the number on goalkeeper at the club and is not enjoying sitting on the bench on a weekly basis, especially as he still believes he is good enough to be starting on a regular basis.

But with the January window just a few weeks away, Kepa has been told that he needs to leave the club in the January transfer window and seek a new club, as sitting on the bench will not do his career any wonders.

Venegas told Onda Cero: “It’s clear that since January they have taken him away and put in Willy Caballero instead.

“It’s also striking that they’ve signed Edouard Mendy. It’s logical that he won’t end up on the bench so I suppose he’ll have to look for a way out.”

Kepa is a very highly-rated stopper that cannot get to grips with this dodgy back-line, so it is easy to see why he got dropped from the side.

If the right offer comes in, if the right club comes calling and if we believe that they no longer need Kepa in the squad, then yes, the club should allow him to leave in January.

It is a shame to not see him succeed, but at the end of the day, we are not here to carry players that are not good enough to play for the club right?
