Thiago Silva has revealed that Frank Lampard sent him a picture of them shaking hands as players before his move to Chelsea this summer.

Despite coming towards the back-end of his top-level playing days, we opted to make a move for the Brazilian in the transfer window after he decided to leave PSG and seek one more big challenge in the game.

Silva has been signed to add some much needed leadership to the side, while also adding that quality at the back that Lampard has been missing, and ow the Brazilian has opened up and claimed Lampard sent him a picture of them shaking hands as players before his move to the club this summer, and the defender says it is a ‘source of pride’ to link up with Lampard at Chelsea: When I was about to sign with Chelsea, when I said ok, he sent me a message with a photo of us shaking hands as captains at the Maracana, in the friendly between Brazil and England,’ he told the Metro

‘It was a big surprise for me, because I didn’t remember that game. ‘I certainly didn’t hesitate to be coached by him. I’m happy that he enjoyed my work so much, I hope to do it in the best possible way to help Chelsea.

‘It is a source of pride to be coached by a player I played against and was one of the greatest midfielders in the world. ‘For me, it is very joyful to share dressing rooms, exchange ideas, and look to help in every way.’

Look, we were worried about the age of Silva and whether or not he would be able to handle the Premier League, but at the end of the day, we should have never doubted the man.
