Cole, Merson, Sarri, Higuain all feature in Chelsea daily news and gossip

Here is the latest Chelsea news, gossip and rumours from icchelseanews.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has refused to comment on our potential deal for striker Gonzalo Higuain.

After weeks of speculation about who Sarri wants to bring in to solve the striker problems at the club, we have reportedly agreed a deal with Juventus to sign the unhappy Argentine, who has struggled during his time on loan at AC Milan this season.

He has not found the back of the net since October and there has been many reports in the media which have claimed the Italians are looking to offload Higuaín this month, and replace him with Genoa goal-machine Krzysztof Piatek.

But despite reports suggesting Higuain is the man that we want, Sarri insists he is focused on on-field matters rather than potential arrivals.

He said on the Sky Sports website: “I want to be clear because I cannot help you. I spoke with [director] Marina [Granovskaia] two weeks ago and she knows my opinion on how to improve the team. Then I decided to be focused on the pitch, on matches, on training.

“Now I am confident because I know Marina is working very hard but I don’t know anything about the market because I want to focus on the matches.

“I don’t call her every evening, otherwise I spend all my mental energy on the market. I think it’s better if I spend them on the pitch.”

Paul Merson has questioned Gonzalo Higuain’s pedigree to play in a key role in the Premier League ahead of his proposed move to Chelsea.

After months of speculation and weeks of talks, reports in the media over the past few days have all suggested that Higuain has agreed a loan deal until the end of the season, with the option of a further 12 month deal if certain aspects of the deal are met.

However, there are some out there who believe that Higuain does not have the quality any longer to cut it in the Premier League, having failed to impress his current employers AC Milan this season.

And Gunners legend Merson is one of them, believing that we should have moved for a player that is already adjusted to the Premier League.

“I’m not sure on him,” Merson said on the Sky Sports website.

“He was a great player but looks below his best of late.

“He hasn’t pulled up trees for a while and now he’s coming to the hardest league in the world.

“He won’t have any time to adapt either as he needs to hit the ground running as Chelsea need someone to play as their focal point.

“I’d rather someone that has played in the Premier League before and knows what this league demands.”

Manchester United legend Andy Cole has backed Gonzalo Higuain’s potential move to Chelsea this month.

It seems that boss Maurizio Sarri has got his dream transfer after it emerged that Higuain had reportedly agreed a six month loan deal to make the move to Stamford Bridge after becoming unhappy at AC Milan.

He has not found the form which made him so deadly in Seria A and has struggled for goals over the past few months, with the Italian giants becoming very frustrated by his inability to score goals on a regular basis.

And despite many in the media suggesting that Higuain is not longer good enough for the Premier League, Cole believes it is a no brainer of a deal for the club.

He was quoted: ‘Is Higuain to Chelsea a good deal? No brainer. No brainer, for me.

‘If you look at this career, the goals he’s got in Italy, Spain, no brainer.

‘We’re sitting here saying Chelsea have had huge centre forwards that have struggled over the years but I think he’ll be fine.

‘His attributes are that he scores goals, especially where he’s played at, playing at Real Madrid, he was the main centre forward and got loads of goals there.

‘He’s got good movement, I like his movement. He works very, very hard for a centre forward which is a big plus as well.’
