Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri officially announces £17 million man to be at Stamford Bridge this January
Maurizio Sarri insists Emerson Palmieri has a future at Chelsea amid reported interest from Juventus.
After playing 36 times for Roma in his final season in Italy, he made the move to Chelsea back in 2018 for a fee of £17.6 million, as then boss Antonio Conte seeked to add some strenth and depth to his under-perfoorming squad.
[the_ad id=”164″]But injuries and the great performances of Marcos Alonso has meant that he has not had the best start to life here and he has found himself sitting on the bench more often than not.
And that led to speculation that Juventus were ready to offer Palmiri a way out this month with a move back to Serie A, with reports they are ready to splash close to £20 million to end his nightmare tart with the club.
But Sarri has moved quick to dampen any speculation of a move and admitted the left-sided defender would be staying with the club.

“Emerson will stay with us, for sure,” the Chelsea boss said on the club website.
“He’s very important. He’s improving.
“Sometimes I had a little problem to put him in because we are not a very physical team so when we play with three little players in the same match, set-pieces could be a problem, but not for another reason. I’m very happy with him, he’s improving and he’s a very good player.”

It is great news that Palmieri will get the chance to prove himself at the club as he clearly has the quality to be a big time player here at Stamford Bridge. So hopefully he will now kick on and start to make the kind of impact that many had hoped at the club.
