Prem boss opens up and addresses possible £75 million Chelsea deal this summer

Brendan Rodgers says Leicester have “no intention” of selling Chelsea target Ben Chilwell during the summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard has already secured a transfer deal for Hakim Ziyech, while Timo Werner was the latest big named player to make that move to Stamford Bridge after the Blues activated his £50 million release clause.

And Chilwell, who has become one of the very best left-backs in the Premier League over the past few seasons, has become a very high transfer target for us as we seek to solve their defensive issues at the back.

But if the club believed that a move for the Englishman was going to be easy, they will have to think again as Rodgers batted away the suggestion he could have played his last game for the club.

“I’m not sure,” he told Sky Sports. “He’s a Leicester City player, and I’m relaxed about it. I’m not worried at all.

“We’ve got a fantastic squad and one that we want to keep together. There’s no intention to sell Ben Chilwell and absolutely no need to sell. The message is: He’s not for sale.”

Look, Chilwell is being wasted at Leicester as they will not have a good season like this one again, but we will be challenging for that Title and playing Champions League football, two things that Chilwell wants.

If we make a move, it will surely be far too hard for the young man to turn down a big opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs on the planet?
