Rivaldo opens up and tells fans that incoming signing ‘will do a great job at Chelsea’
Brazilian legend Rivaldo has claimed that Defender Thiago Silva will do a great job at Chelsea ahead of his move
Having conceded 54 Premier League goals last season, the worst record in the top half and 21 more than champions Liverpool, it was clear that head coach Frank Lampard was not going to end his transfer business with Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Silva won seven Ligue 1 titles during his time in France, but leaves the club having failed to achieve the European success desired most in Paris, and he is expected to commit his future to the Blues through to 2023.
Now fellow countryman is certain that he will add a new dimension to Lampard’s current squad while also serving as a role model for the club’s younger players, he told Betfair: “At 35, Thiago Silva will sign for two seasons with Chelsea and I’m confident that he will do a great job there, as he is a great centre back with excellent positioning and vast experience of world football.
“I think he still comes with plenty to offer. I’d back him to produce a good football in the Premier League and should be a commanding voice in Frank Lampard’s otherwise young squad.
“Nowadays, many players extend their careers until their late-thirties and Silva is a good example of that, as I was in my time.
‘If you keep yourself in good physical condition you can easily play at the highest level until 36, 37 years old.”
There may be many people out there that firmly believe that Silva is passed his sell by date at the top level and will be unable to perform in the Premier League, but at the end of the day, he is world class and should be a great leader for the Blues over the next few seasons.
