Glen Johnson believes Everton forward and Brazil star Richarlison would be a ‘sensible’ signing for Chelsea this summer

Richarlison is a player that all the big clubs have been linked with over the past few transfer windows – as many believe that he should be competing at the top of the Premier League and not the bottom

Thomas Tuchel wants to bolster his attacking options following an underwhelming end to the 2021-22 campaign – and with the reports which have claimed that Richarlison is now leaving Everton – a move is expected to be made by the Blues

Now – amid all the speculation surrounding a player that has netted 53-goals in 153-games for Everton – Johnson has come out and claimed that he would be a sensible signing for the club should they make a move

Johnson told BettingOdds ‘I certainly believe he would suit the way Chelsea play more than Romelu Lukaku.

‘Whether he’s good enough to be their main man and get 20 goals a season, then I’m not so sure.

‘I do like him though and I think he’s a good player and it could be a sensible move if the fee is reasonable.’

Meanwhile, Richarlison was asked about his future at Everton earlier this month and said: ‘I’ve already made it clear to the board.

‘I’ve already talked to (Frank) Lampard too, with my agents and they know what I want. Let’s wait for June.

‘Now I can’t talk, because when we talk about leaving a club I’m kind of like this, because of the history I have at Everton, the affection that the fans have for me. When we talk about leaving I’m a little speechless.’
