Trevor Sinclair has opened up and admitted that Declan Rice’s proposed move to Chelsea makes sense.

After a massive summer of spending, we made the shock decision to let Ross Barkley leave on-loan for the next 12 months as he seeks to get the game time he needs to get back into the England set-up.

But his departure, has led to reports that we are trying to free up a bit more space, and wage budget, so they can go out and complete that transfer deal that will bring Declan Rice to the club.

The Hammers are reportedly demanding more than £80million for one of their most prized assets, but the club have not shied away from splashing the cash this summer and Roman Abramovich has openly backed Lampard in the transfer market.

Now former West Ham ace Trevor Sinclair believes a move for Rice to our club makes sense: “One of the biggest problems for football clubs is week to week wages,” said Sinclair on Wednesday’s White and Sawyer

“So getting Ross Barkley off the wages to bring in Declan Rice makes sense, unfortunately.”

Rice is a very good young player that could go on and become a real class star of the game, but at the end of the day he still has alot to prove in the game and we will be fools to pay too much money for the lad.

We have said it before and we will say it again, a new defender is what Lamps need to sign in the dying days of the window, not another young midfielder.
