Lamps opens up on possible £80 million Chelsea signing, Gallas makes big Ziyech claim and Chelsea announce signing of new stopper
Lampard discusses Rice, Chelsea fans welcome new stopper and Gallas opens up on Ziyech in icchelseanews roundup…
Frank Lampard has opened up and discussed long-term Chelsea transfer target Declan Rice, heading into the January transfer window.
It was no secret that wewere very interested in trying to sign Rice over the summer transfer window, as they reportedly saw him as the idea man to replace the ageing Ngolo Kante, but could not get a deal done.
A mixture of his £80 million price tag being an issue, the Hammers not wanting to sell and the fact we just spent over £250 million on new players meant that they would not be getting their top transfer target, in the summer window.
However, with the January transfer window just a few weeks away, there has been alot of speculation in the media that we may decide to swoop in and make an offer to try and tempt the Hammers into agreeing a transfer deal for the Englishman.
And as his side prepare to face West Ham on Monday night, Lampard has been opening up on Rice, and discussing the decision to let him leave Stamford Bridge as a kid.
When asked if the club regret ever letting him, Lampard was quoted on the Daily Express: “He’s a fantastic player for West Ham and England. Fair play. It’s a good story. It shows a strength of character. I wouldn’t say it’s a regret.
“Our academy is one of the best in the world and it’s not easy because it’s not an exact science. Declan deserves personal credit for the start he has had at West Ham.”
William Gallas reckons Hakim Ziyech could end up being Chelsea’s answer to Man City’s Riyad Mahrez.
Ziyech was one of the players that was signed buy Frank Lampard over the summer transfer window to help improve the attack, add a few more goals and bring some more creativity to the squad.
And despite a slow start to life at the Blues, over the past few weeks, fans have seen just why Ziyech is one of the most dangerous wingers in world football, with the former Ajax star contributing to a number of assists from that right wing.
And after watching Ziyech in action, The former France ace heaped praise on Frank Lampard’s Dutch star describing him as the best signing of the Blues’ summer transfer window, while also claiming that he could be the next Mahrez.
Gallas told Ladbrokes: “I think he’s a great addition to the Chelsea squad and would probably say he was their signing of the summer.
“He’s a player who can make the difference. When he’s on the pitch you always fancy Chelsea to create chances and score goals.
“He’s a very clever player. He’s a little bit like Riyad Mahrez, and when you play against a team who are difficult to break down, someone like Ziyech is a great asset to have to make the difference.”
