Midfielder opens door to possible Chelsea move after latest statement
Over the past few seasons – Declan Rice has developed into one of the best central midfielders in the game and a man that is tipped to leave for one of the big clubs.
So far West Ham have been able to keep hold of their star man as he has a nice long contract – but as he comes towards the end of that deal – there is more and more speculation about his long-term future.
This World Cup has shown that he is ready to play for a big club – and amid all the speculation that we are keen on the man – he has opened the door to a possible transfer deal.
When asked whether playing in Qatar has given him new aspirations in the league and in Europe, Rice said in a press conference: “Yeah, 100 per cent. For the last two or three years I have been saying that.
“I have been playing consistently well for [my] club and I feel like I really want to keep pushing.
“I see my friends here who are playing in the Champions League and for big trophies… you only get one career and at the end of your career you want to look back at what you have won and the biggest games you have played in.
“I am really ambitious.”
Look – Rice is ready for that next step in his career and make a move to a big club – and West Ham fans will not surely not begrudge him that opportunity?
