After months of speculation and rumours, reports have claimed Higuain has agreed a loan deal to sign for us this January after failing to impress at Milan this season.

he was left out of the team for their 2-0 win over Genoa at the weekend after boss Gennaro Gattuso admitted that the Argentine told him that he wanted to make the move to Stamford Bridge, in order to link-up with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.

However, Riccio has now claimed that a deal is up in the air, with reports they will only let Higuain leave the club if they seal a deal for Genoa hot-shot Krzysztof Piatek.

He told Gazzetta: “As for the transfer market we are all grown-ups, we know how to deal with these situations.

“It has been in the air for a few days. But we will work with the players at our disposal.

It is beleived that Milan have an agreement with Genoa for Piatek, but will mee on Tuesday to finalise a deal that could be worth around £31 million.

Is Higuaín the right man for us?

History proves that strikers coming here towards the end of their playing careers seem to fail, as they simply cannot adapt to the pace and quality of the Premier League. So hopefully that is not the case when Higuaín arrives as we really need him to score the goals that could help us get back into a Champions League spot come the end of the season.
