Julien Stéphan opens up and confirms big man Mendy to Chelsea transfer is happening
Rennes manager Julien Stéphan has opened up and confirmed that Édouard Mendy transfer to Chelsea will be happening.
There has been so much speculation and rumours over the past few months about the next arrival at the Bridge as Frank Lampard looks to wrap up a very productive transfer window.
And Big man Mendy is the next player to make their move to the Bridge after earlier reports suggested that a £22 million fee had been agreed between the two clubs after weeks of talks and negotiations.
But the move has now in fact been confirmed by Mendy’s soon-to-be former head coach, Julien Stéphan, who confirmed that the 28-year-old goalkeeper is on his way to London and that they are now looing for an immediate replacement.
He was quoted on FootMercato: “We’re looking for a guard, it’s no secret. Edouard will certainly leave us to join Chelsea. In this position, we need to get someone back very quickly, I cannot give you names since there is nothing definitive.”
We will welcome the big man with opens arms as he will add some more quality and depth the side that we are lacking.
We are big fans of Kepa, but at the end of the day, the Spaniard needs some top competition to get back to his best and keep developing and the signing of Mendy should surely help him achieve that.
Welcome to the club Edouard and we are sure that it will not take too long to settle at the club.
