Pulisic to be Chelsea star, Martinez message send, Chilwell advised, agent backs Werner in icchelseanews roundup..

Inter Milan’s general director Beppe Marotta has expressed his optimism that Lautaro Martinez will stay, amid Chelsea links.

It is no secret that Frank Lampard is keen to improve this side with some big time signings, and he was heavily linked with a transfer move to try and sign the very impressive Martinez, as the has been in a rich vein of form this season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions and drawing interest from top European clubs.

But considering that he has also been linked with a move to Barcelona, we opted to make a move to sign the brilliant Timo Werner, who will be arriving at the club when the transfer window opens up.

However, with the transfer market the way it is, the speculation has not gone away, and the Argentine international scored in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Sampdoria as Serie A returned this weekend and Marotta underlined Inter’s plan not to sell their best players this summer.

“It’s well-known clubs are interested,” he told SPORT. “He’s a quality player and has had an extraordinary season. As we have always said, Inter have no intention of selling out players. If they don’t want to (go), we will keep them with us.

“Lautaro’s flattered by the attention from other clubs, but I am optimistic he will continue with us next season. If he doesn’t express a desire to leave, we will keep him.

“That said, he’s not played for three months, we have to wait. One game’s not enough to assess it. He is young, he’s flattered to be getting attention from big clubs.

“On our side, there’s a desire to keep him and he’s never expressed that he really wants to go. I am optimistic.”

Timo Werner’s agent has defended the RB Leipzig star from criticism over his £47.5 million move to Chelsea.

After months and months and months of transfer speculation about whether or not Werner would leave RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window, it was revealed just last week that the German was heading here

Werner has faced criticism for walking out on his side before they contest the quarter-finals of the Champions League, as he wants to get settled with his new surroundings ahead of his first season in the Premier League.

Now Karlheinz Forster has reiterated Mintzlaff’s message and says Werner does not deserve a negative image, because he has chosen to sign with us before the season can really get finished.

“What annoys me is that Timo is now being put in a corner and portrayed as a bad sportsman who lets his team-mates down,” Werner’s representative told Sport1. “I have to contradict that very clearly and I can only agree with what Oliver Mintzlaff said yesterday before the game!

“It would have been anything but a good start for Timo at his new club if he had to return to Leipzig for the preparation and the Champions League after the break.

“It was the joint vote of all parties involved – and not just Timo’s decision – that he should move to Chelsea on July 1, and not until mid or late August.”

Frank Lampard heaped praise on Christian Pulisic as the winger made a scoring return in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

The 21-year-old had been sidelined since New Year’s Day with an abductor muscle injury and now looks set to play a huge role in  run-in, as we seek to get back inside those top four spots.

And after seeing the American International put in a very impressive performance in the limited game time that he had against Villa, Lampard expects Pulisic to score more regularly after netting his seventh goal in his debut campaign in England.

He said on the official website “He will start games for us, of course, and I think he’s going to be a big player for us, not just in this run-in but going forward.

“He was hungry. I know that and I felt for him, as I felt for the players with long-term injuries.

“The ability he’s got to arrive in the box, it’s a big thing, I’ve spoken about it with him all season.

“It’s the difference between being a very good player off the side, an attacking player, or the players at the real top level of the game that arrive and score in the six-yard box and hit numbers yearly.

“I really think Christian can do that, so I was really pleased with him, the impact he made when he came on.”

Rio Ferdinand has offered advice to Chelsea target and Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell ahead of the summer window.

We have been signings players over the past few months as they seek to get the side back challenging once again, and there has been some talk in the media that Chilwell could be the next big named player to arrive at the club.

Chilwell has developed very nicely over the past few seasons and has firmly established himself as one of the very best left-backs in the game, and reports have suggested that we are ready to pay £75 million to try and nail down his services.

But admit all the transfer speculation, ex-Manchester United star Ferdinand has opened up and handed Chilwell some advice, he told BT Sport: ” His footwork needs to improve, his body position when going one-v-one, but his intensity and physicality running forward and his quality when he gets in the opposition half is up there with the best around at the moment.

“Listen, he’s a young lad, he’s got areas of his game to improve, obviously. We can’t expect Ben Chilwell at his age to be the finished article.

“He’s just come onto the scene in the Premier League, a couple of years playing, he’s got room for improvement.

“I’m sure knowing Brendan Rodgers he will be working on these details. Young defenders mature a little later but he’s a fantastic prospect.”

Chilwell will surely develop into a real top-class player and hopefully that will be here.
