Cagliari President confirms Sarri Chelsea interest in £43 million rated midfielder Barella

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is keen to bring Cagliari star Nicolo Barella to the club during the next transfer window.

Despite the impending transfer ban just around the corner, there has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media which have all suggested that Sarri wants to delve into his transfer kitty and finally land a replacement for the departed Cesc Fabregas, who left for Monaco during the January window.

And that left Sarri with a hole in his midfield that he was unable to fill during the final few moments of the transfer window, with Barella just one of a number of possible replacements the Italian wanted to replace Fabregas after he left the club.

But  Sarri is hoping to conclude a few deals in the summer and has put Barella high up on the shopping list, and according to reports on the Corriere dello Sport, the Italian club’s president Tommaso Giulini has revealed that Sarri is interested in a deal to sign the impressive midfielder.

‘Barella was never close to a January exit,’ Giulini told the Corriere dello Sport.

‘I cannot deny that there was concrete interest from Napoli in January. Maurizio Sarri also wanted him at Chelsea.

‘As for Inter, that was just a chat, nothing more.’

Would Barella be worth the money?

For £43 million the midfielder could turn out to be a very good signing as his performances over in Seria A seen to be very impressive, especially since he is playing for a side that is mid-table.

So if we do decide to make a move in the summer, then getting Barella for the right price must be top priority as we do not want to see the midfielder arrive for a lot more money that he is actually worth.
