Premier League defender to replace departing Christensen at Chelsea?

chelsea, premier league

Chelsea are open to the idea of handing James Tarkowski a move to the Bridge should Andreas Christensen depart the club.

Christensen is one of the highest rated young defenders in Europe right now and has become a big part of Thomas Tuchels side, but just like Antonio Rudiger, he is out of contract at the end of the season and with the likes of Barcelona eyeing up a deal, he could be set to depart the club

And according to the Daily Express website, Tarkowski is a man that the club could make a move for.

Tarkowski has played a pivotal role in keeping Burnley in the top-flight over the past five-and-a-half seasons and is one of the Premier League’s most underrated defenders.

The 29-year-old has over 175 Premier League games under his belt and would represent a sterling squad option for the Blues if Barcelona do manage to prise Andreas Christensen away from Stamford Bridge.

And it makes sense to target somebody with Premier League nous to bolster the ‘ defence, as Tarkowski is a man that is ready to test himself at one of the biggest clubs, and has been for some time.

Look, fans will not be happy to see a number of players depart the club on a free deal as they would prefer the likes of Christensen to stay. But if we are looking to save a bit of cash and add a quality defender to that back line, Tarkowski is ready.

He really is a player that should have joined a top club a long time ago, so now is the right time to snap him up
