Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icchelseanews featuring the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Enzo Maresca and Thiago Silva that we think you may have missed…

The January transfer window has now been opened for a few hours and there will be alot of rumours about who Chelsea will sign, but the most shocking reports so far have claimed the Blues are exploring the possibility of re-signing Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer from Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

Rudiger ended his five-year stay with CHELSEA to complete a move to the Bernabeu back in 2022 and the 32-year-old defender has proven to be a great piece of business for the La Liga giants and has become a real fans favourite at the club.

In that time, Rudiger has made 163 appearances in all competitions for Madrid and helped Los Blancos win eight pieces of silverware, including the 2023/24 Champions League trophy, but the German is out of contract in the Spanish capital next summer and there is some uncertainty surrounding the big mans future, with a host of top clubs keeping close tabs on developments.

Spanish newspaper AS report that Rudiger has ‘several options’ on the table should he fail to reach an agreement to extend his stay with Madrid beyond the end of the current season, and that we are very interested in bringing him back to the club.

IcChelseanews says…

The board like to buy young, they like to sign players that will be a long-term investment, but having that experience in the side will make those younger players better in the long-run.

If the reports are true and the club wants to sign Rudiger, he will be brilliant to have in the dressing room for a season or two, he is a winner, a leader and a massive person to have around in that dressing room.

He may not play much, but he would be welcomed back by many CHELSEA fans that is for sure guys, but we cant see him coming back.

THIAGO SILVA MESSAGE SENT

Blues boss Enzo Maresca has been told to scrap the Chelsea transfer blueprint and try to bring former fans favourite Thiago Silva back to the club, to add some much needed experience to that Blues back-line.

While a number of the club’s most recent attacking recruits have struggled to make an impact it is in defence where CHELSEA look particularly short of numbers, as the likes of Wesley Fofana, who has struggled with a number of injury issues since his move from Leicester, and Trevoh Calobah, who was handed a Chelsea lifeline this time last year after he was recalled from a loan spell at Crystal Palace, are the current first choice pairing.

Thiago joined Chelsea as a free agent five years ago and after initially struggling following his arrival, he quickly adjusted to the demands of the Premier League and became a club fans favourite, with his quality in the defence helping the club to a number of trophies.

Thiago’s contract with Fluminese expired recently and Terry believes the veteran centre-half would add the experience currently lacking in Maresca’s team, He said: ‘Thiago Silva is available. Listen to me, a man with great experience, a man with a great relationship with our football club.

‘His two kids are in our academy, no doubt he’s going to be back in London with his family for Christmas I would love to see this man back at our football club, playing alongside these players.

‘I’m not saying he has to play every week with the experience he can bring playing next to someone like that probably goes back to my role in 2017 under Antonio Conte when we won the league.

‘I didn’t play but I had a role to play within the group. Be that buffer between the players the manager, the owners and have that bit of experience.

‘Sometimes when you’re going through a tough spell or when you’re going through a good spell as well you know what to say and what to deliver and he certainly brings that as well.

‘Thiago Silva back to CHELSEA would make everyone very happy, me included.’

Enzo Maresca has now left Chelsea after some stuttering results over the past few weeks has now meant that the Blues are now out of the race for that Premier League title

After Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, CHELSEA have now only managed one win in their last seven games. Their awful recent form has heaped pressure onto head coach Enzo Maresca, who is in his second season in charge after making the switch from Leicester City in the summer of 2024.

After securing Champions League qualification and winning the Europa Conference League in his first season, progress has stagnated this term, and with the amount of money that has been spent over the last couple of transfer windows, the board have been expecting better results than what have been delivered.

Sky Sports News had reported that Maresca was on the brink of a Stamford Bridge exit and Chelsea – who face Manchester City live on Sky Sports on Sunday – confirmed the news in a statement on New Year’s Day.

It read: “Chelsea Football Club and head coach Enzo Maresca have parted company.

“During his time at the club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the club.

“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.”
