Powerful defender De Ligt is interested in making Chelsea after making decision to leave Juventus

Chelsea transfer target Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly ‘flattered’ by the interest the Blues are showing in him.

With the likes of Cesare Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen all out of contract at the end of the current season, it will be no secret that Thomas Tuchel will need to add a new defender or two to that squad.

That has led to Tuchel exploring possible replacements for the defender, with De Ligt quickly rising up the shortlist.

He had become one of the brightest defensive prospects in Europe while at Ajax, who he captained to the semi-finals of the Champions League, and that earned him that dream move to Juventus.

However, The Dutchman’s big-money move to Juventus has not worked out as hoped, with the defender struggling to hold down a regular place in Massimiliano Allegri’s side, and after three years in Turin, his time in Serie A could soon be up, with Juve thought to be open to a sale.

De Ligt will have two years remaining on his contract when the summer transfer window opens, which means Juve will be able to demand a high fee, and according to reports on Calciomercato, he is flattered and interested by the rumours

De Ligt’s desire to depart the Allianz Stadium means that the Serie A club’s hierarchy are ‘ready to negotiate’ for the Dutchman, and the report adds that a move to the Bridgeis really on the cards.

It has been strange to see that De Ligt has not been able to live upto expectations at Juventus as he has all the qualities to be one of the best in world football.

So it will be interesting to see how he would cope in the Premier League, where the pace of the game is alot faster then in Italy
