Portuguese giants tells Chelsea ‘they will part ways’ with star for €100 million
It has been claimed that if CHELSEA wants to sign Benfica defender Tomas Araujo in the coming transfer windows, they will have to meet his very high asking valuation, which is now a whopping €100 million
Despite the clubs quality attacking ability, there has been some issues that is causing Enzo Maresca at the back as the club have been unable to fill the leadership void that Thiago Silva left after he decided to depart the club and top level football.
There has been so much speculation and rumours linking the club with all sorts of top level defenders, and now it seems that the Blues board are eying up a potential move to bring Araujo to the Premier League from Benfica.
Araujo has established himself as one of the best young prospects in his country since breaking into the first-team squad at SL Benfica. A native of Famalicao, he spent his formative years with four clubs in Portugal before graduating from the youth division at SL Benfica.
We considered a late move for the Portuguese defensive prospect in the summer transfer window before the deal failed to see the light of day. The Blues remain keen on signing Araujo amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile.
Now, it is claimed the 22-year-old Portuguese whizkid will not come cheap, with Benfica demanding around €100 million to part ways with him. The valuation might rule out most suitors from the chase, and it will be interesting to see if they can convince the Aguilas to accept a lower fee
