Stopper wants to make bigger impact under Maresca after his Chelsea move
Djordje Petrovic is aiming to build on his debut season at Chelsea following his transfer from the New England Revolution.
After making the move to the Premier League last season – Petrovic enjoyed a decent season at Stamford Bridge – but didnt really make the impact that many had hoped for.
However – He is looking to build on his debut season at Stamford Bridge – Speaking to the official website, the shot-stopper said: “The Premier League is another level compared to the rest of Europe. Everything is so fast, so quick, you have less time to react and I felt I needed to work a lot before I started to play.
“I had to stay patient and not put pressure on myself. That’s normal in training, if you don’t play you want to push. But you can’t be frustrated, you need to believe in yourself and work and then hopefully everything comes from that.”
However – according to reporter Iomie Stanley – the club need to sign a world class stopper this summer, he said: ‘Chelsea had one of the worst defences in the Premier League last season, they were awful.
‘Enzo Maresca wants possession based football, meaning that he needs a stopper that will be able to play out from the back.
‘Petrovic wants to make a bigger impact next season – but all the big clubs have quality stoppers apart from CHELSEA – the board need to bring in somebody that the defenders will be able to trust 100 per cent – they need a world class act.
