Chelsea statement released confirming £25-years olds summer move
Chelsea have now announced on the club website that Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has joined AFC Bournemouth on a permanent transfer.
CHELSEA have been splashing the cash alot over the past few months and have already spent close to £150 million on new players, as they seek to close the gap on Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool before the start of next season.
However – there are also a number of players at Stamford Bridge that are probably no longer needed at the club, and that means there will be opportunities for players like Petrovic, who have not made much of an impact at Stamford Bridge.
Newly promoted Sunderland are among the clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old this summer, who was one of the standout performers in Ligue 1 last season during his loan spell with Strasbourg, but the Cherries made their move to get a deal done and now he has left Chelsea.
The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Petrovic joined Chelsea from New England Revolution in the summer of 2023 and the Serbia international made 31 appearances in his first season with the Blues.
‘The 25-year-old spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at RC Strasbourg, where he made 31 appearances for the French club.
‘We want to thank Djordje for his efforts in blue and wish him well for the future.’
Andoni Iraola’s side had Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea last season, making 31 appearances in the Premier League, but he’s sealed a permanent move to Arsenal this summer, leaving the Cherries on the hunt for a new goalkeeper
