£27 million Paredes wants to sign for Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea this January
Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett claims Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes could be in-bound for Chelsea this month.
The Argentine has been a standout performer in Russia this season and his performances have reportedly caught the attentions of boss Maurizio Sarri, who is desperate to add another midfielder to the squad this window with Cesc Fabregas all set for a move to Monaco.
[the_ad id=”164″]And reports have even suggested we have begun talks to sign Paredes in a deal worth around £27 million, while many more have indicated that they are in talks to sign Cagliairi ace Nicolo Barella.
Now Dorsett has claimed Paredes is keen to move to London, as talks are progressing well.
He told the Sky Sports website: “We are fully expecting him [Fabregas] to leave Stamford Bridge imminently really after his emotional farewell to fans in the FA Cup on Saturday,” Dorsett said,
“Still we wait for news that the Chelsea bosses will let him go now. He’s out of contract in the summer and we understand he has now agreed a three-year contract to join Thierry Henry at Monaco in the summer.
“But Monaco and Fabregas want the move to happen now. Chelsea want a replacement before they let that happen. Chelsea are looking at a number of replacements and Barella is a key man in the chain.
“Sarri’s a big admirer of the player and he’d cost £45million but he has competition for him. Our colleagues at Sky in Italy are reporting that Sarri’s former club Napoli have emerged as favourites.
“There’s also interest in Leandro Parades, he’s at Zenit St Petersburg. The information we have is that negotiations with Chelsea are developing and the Argentinian is keen on a move to the Premier League.
“He’s got lots of experience at Serie A with Chievo, Roma and Empoli.”
