Forgotten man Omeruo announces dream to play for Chelsea
Kenneth Omeruo has told Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri that he still harbours dreams to one day play for the club.
The 25-year old midfielder joined the boys way back in 2012 and was hailed as one of the best young talents the club acquired in years, but he failed to make any real impact on the side and has spent much of his time here out on loan, spending a second spell at Turkish side Kasımpasa last season.
He once again he failed to convince Sarri over the summer that he deserved a chance to stay and get a chance to play, and ultimately decided to move to La Liga on a season-long loan with Leganes.
And although he admitted he would be open to a permanent deal with Leganes, he has admitted that he would love to one day play for us, even if it was for one game.
He told the BBC: “Right now I’m fulfilling my dream of playing in La Liga, it’s amazing and different. Leganes have an option to sign me permanently and I would like to give everything to stay in the league.
“I’ve played in the English championship, I’ve gotten a feel of that but La Liga is very good. If I end up playing for Chelsea someday fine, because it is one of the biggest teams in the world and they have the highest fan base in Nigeria. I would love to play for them, even if it’s just a game, but right now I am very happy with my life here in Spain.”
Will he ever get the chance?
Unfortunately Omeruo is no longer good enough to get a chance to play for us and it will be very unlikely that he puts on a Chelsea shirt again, especially since his contract expires in a couple of years.
So we wish him the best and hope that he can get a permanent deal at the Spanish side, as his time here at Stamford Bridge is seemingly done.
