Chelsea close in on Sancho signing, Lampard told to bring world class star to Chelsea, Defender announces he wants to be at Chelsea next summer
Guys here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news from icchelseanews that we think you may enjoy.
Ethan Ampadu has revealed he wants to continue at Stamford Bridge when his loan spell at RB Leipzig comes to an end.
The Wales defender is on a season-long at the Bundesliga club from Stamford Bridge and after a defensive crisis has found himself finally getting some games, and he is really taking his chances over in the Bundesliga and putting in some very impressive performances.
He started in Leipzig’s 1-0 first-leg win at Tottenham in the Champions League last 16 first-leg clash – and once again, he was impressive against one of the best sides in the premier League and against a team that managed to make it all the way to the final last season.
Now he is looking to play some more games this season and has admitted that he is hoping to resume his career back at Stamford Bridge, speaking to the Evening Standard, he said: “It’s my club, always has been and it will always be my home in football. It is great to see that [the other young players] are doing so well.
“They all have great talent and deserve every minute they get pitch time. It shows that young players under a young manager who believes in them can be successful in the Premier League.
“I’m in touch a little [with the other young players], and it’s been a great season for some of the younger players because the manager has shown such faith in them and so far, it’s turning out well.
“It points to an exciting future for the club. But my focus is at Leipzig until May and then the European finals with Wales.”
Graeme Souness has urged Chelsea to make a move for Jan Oblak following the keepr’s inspired performance in Atletico Madrid’s Champions League win over Liverpool.
We failed to get any business done during the January window, but it will mean that Frank Lampard will be able to delve into the clubs transfer kitty and add a few players to the squad in the summer that will add some experience, and quality in the right areas of the pitch.
And one area of the pitch that he reportedly wants to build on in the summer is that of the stopper area, as there have been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks that Lampard is not happy with the performances of young Spanish stopper Kepa.
The Spanish shot-stopper, who is the most expensive goalkeeper ever, has struggled for form this season and was axed in favour of veteran Willy Caballero, as Lampard has made it very clear that Kepa’s standards have not been good enough for a team chasing a top-four finish, and he already has his eyes on a replacement with Oblak on the shopping list.
Oblak has been brilliant for Madrid over the past few seasons and is now easily regarded as one of the finest stoppers in the game, with Frank Lampard reportedly a massive fan of the La Liga star.
And following his impressive display against Liverpool in the Champions League this week, former Liverpool star Souness has urged the club to make a move and snap him up, he asked his fellow pundits in the RTE studio: “Do we know hold old he is? (to which they replied: 27) There you go Chelsea!
“Chelsea are looking for a goalkeeper. He’s been a top man for a long time.”
We have received a boost in their bid to sign Jadon Sancho after Borussia Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed they would consider letting him leave
Sancho, who has 14 goals this season, is one of the most in-demand players across Europe and there were many reports in the January window suggesting that we were keen to make a move to sign the winger then.
However, Dortmund did not want to sell one of their most prized assets and it seemed that Sancho was keen to stay put until at least the summer, meaning that we went the whole January transfer window without making any meaningful transfer deals.
But with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich all credited with interest in the prodigious wide-man, Dortmund could demand in excess of £100million for Sancho in the summer, who became the first teenager ever to score 25 goals in Germany’s top flight recently.
And although Dortmund would love to hold onto the talented teenager, they are prepared to discuss his exit should he want to go, Watzke told RMC Sport: “Jadon is a very, very great talent, perhaps the greatest currently in Europe among players under the age of 21.
“In my opinion, he has the potential to become one of the top two or three players in the world in the years to come.
“We will do our best to keep him as long as possible. We have a very good relationship with him.
“But if one day, he comes to see us and tells us that he wants to leave the club, then we will discuss it.”
