Thiago Silva has sent a message to Chelsea fans that he’s here to win, and not to just make up the numbers.
We were looking to add a leader to the squad in the early stages of the transfer window and were heavily linked to some world class defenders that could have cost some serious money.
However, we opted to make the smart move to bring Silva to the club on a short-term contract, especially as he is regarded as one of the best defenders in the game and a player that will lead the club.
And ahead of his first game for the club, he has opened up and told the fans that he has made the move to the club in order to win, and not just here for the experience, He told the Blues’ website: “They were huge games, with great players on both sides: [Didier] Drogba, with his physical strength; Diego [Costa], who’s always a complete nightmare to play against!
“They were tough matches, both over here and in Paris.
“I think that PSG had the better of those matches but it could easily have gone the other way because games at the highest level between two great teams always come down to the smallest details.”
“I’m arriving 100 per cent motivated for this new project.
“I’m not just here for the experience, I’m here to win. I hope that they believe, just as we do, that this is going to be a very special year and one full of success for the club.”
The man is a great short-term fix, lets hope he is able to help up win a few trophies as with him in the back-line, we will be alot more solid and alot harder to break down.
