New Signing admits delight after officially agreeing five-year Chelsea move
Edouard Mendy and Chelsea have admitted their delight after the stopper agreed to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
It is no secret that Frank Lampard was looking to add another stopper to the side this summer after being left unimpressed with Kepa last season, and that led to reports that Mendy was on the shopping list.
Mendy has been impressing over in the French League with Rennes and has been constantly watched by the scouts, and after a few weeks of talks and rumours, he has now agreed to make that move to the club on a five-year deal.
And he has admitted his delight at the move, he told the club website: ‘I am so excited to be joining Chelsea. It’s a dream for me to be a part of this exciting squad and to work with Frank Lampard and all of his coaching staff.
“I look forward to meeting my team-mates and can’t wait to get started.’
Look, there is no doubt that we have been brilliant in the transfer window this summer and signing the unit of Mendy will add a bit more quality to the squad and makes us alot more defensively solid.
Kepa is a good young stopper, be he is under pressure right now, so the signing of Mendy will take the pressure of him and hopefully help get the very best out of the Spaniard.
Welcome to the club Edouard and we are very glad that you decided to agree the move to Stamford Bridge and help us get back into the habit of winning titles.[the_ad id=”164”]
