Issuing his own statement, Ronaldo said: “Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early.
“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.
“I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”
That has led to alot of speculation that Chelsea would be the next destination for the Portuguese star as Ted Boehly is a massive fan – and Chelsea are in need of signing a natural goal-scorer.
Mason Mount could potentially be a team-mate of Ronaldo from January and he was quizzed on the possible signing of the Portuguese star – although he admitted he is not even thinking about that right now.
He said:“Listen, I’m away with international and England at the moment so that’s all I’m focusing on.
“I’ve just played my first World Cup game, I’m not really thinking about too much else. I’m away with England.”
